What is the new policy?
The DMV has returned to the old policy and all inspection stickers that look like the sample displayed below expire at the end of the month.
Will the DMV change the inspection stickers this year?
No. The DMV will continue to use the type of sticker displayed below for 2006. However, the inspection stations have instructions to punch only the month of expiration, not the dates across the top of the sticker. The stickers will be revised in 2007 to remove the dates.
If I already have a sticker with one of the three dates across the top punched, do I need to replace it?
No. Law enforcement agencies were notified to ignore any date punched. The agencies were informed that all stickers of the type displayed above expire at the end of the month, as before.
What do I do if I received a ticket before the end of the month, and my inspection was valid until the end of the month?
If:
you can plead not guilty and show a copy of the memo DMV issued in 2006 to the law enforcement agencies and the magistrates. Also provide your inspection receipt, if you have the receipt. The receipt shows your date of inspection. You can contact the DMV if you have additional questions.
