"The Department of Motor Vehicles has recently received a number of complaints from individuals who have attempted to renew their vehicle registrations via unauthorized websites not affiliated with DMV. We strongly encourage all of our customers to protect themselves by using only the official DMV website -- WWW.NYSDMV.COM -- for all DMV transactions. The web address can also be found on the backs of newer driver licenses and all current registration documents."
