• Your browser must be set to allow cookies.
• You may personalize your plates with up to 6 characters or spaces, or choose to order a plate with a number assigned by DMV.
• Available for passenger or commercial  classes. You must have an existing, valid NYS vehicle registration.
• You must use a credit card to pay the fee. Custom plates with DMV assigned plate number are $43 for passenger and commercial vehicles, with an annual fee of $25.  Personalized custom plates are $68 for passenger and commercial vehicles, with a $50 annual fee.
• You must provide an e-mail address so we can send you a confirmation.  A protected or blocked e-mail address, including spam blocking software, may prevent you from receiving your confirmation e-mail. Your e-mail program must be able to receive e-mail from addresses that include the domain: dmv.state.ny.us.

• You cannot order personal plates and have them sent to an address different from the one already on record for the registration. -- Plates are sent to the address on DMV's file. E-mail requests for address changes are NOT accepted.
• You cannot order personal plates on-line if your registration will expire within 60 days. Call the Custom Plates Unit (1-518-402-4838) to order your plates and have your registration renewed.  More on this topic.
• Personal plates with the handicap symbol cannot be ordered on line, please call the Custom Plates Unit.
• All plates are screened by DMV before delivery.  Obscene or objectionable plates are not issued, nor are plates that may give the appearance of an official plate or are in the configuration of special registration classes.
