"I'm Dave Swarts, Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.  May is "Bicycle Safety Month" across New York State.  As an avid bicycle rider for many years, I know that smart riders of every age obey the traffic laws and always wear a helmet.  Motorists also need to be mindful of bicyclists.  They have the same rights as motor vehicles to ride on our streets and highways.  This summer, take the time to share the road with them safely and responsibly."
